Dave Thomas Brown & More Set for The Legend of Georgia McBride

first_imgDave Thomas Brown, who recently appeared off-Broadway in the musical adaptation of Heathers, will star in the New York premiere of Matthew Lopez’s The Legend of Georgia McBride. The MCC production, directed by Mike Donahue, will begin performances at off-Broadway’s Lucille Lortel Theatre on August 20. It will open on September 9 and is currently scheduled to run through October 4.The cast will also include Wayne Duvall as Eddie, Matt McGrath as Tracy, Keith Nobbs as Rexy/Jason and Afton C. Williamson as Jo. The show follows Casey (Brown), a broke Elvis impersonator in the Florida Panhandle, who, in order to help his pregnant wife, turns to the world of drag.In addition to Heathers, Brown’s previous stage credits include The Tempest, Asking for Trouble and These Seven Sicknesses. Duvall has been seen on stage in Pride in the Falls of Autrey Mill and Working and on screen in Lincoln and Prisoners. McGrath recently appeared in Verite at LCT3; his additional New York stage credits include Cabaret and A Streetcar Named Desire on Broadway and Hedwig and the Angry Inch off-Broadway. Nobbs’ Broadway credits include Lombardi, Bronx Bombers and The Lion in Winter. Williamson appeared on Broadway in Race and on the small screen in Homeland and Nashville.The production will feature choreography by Paul McGill, set design by Donyale Werle, costumes by Anita Yavich, lighting design by Ben Stanton and sound design by Jill DuBoff.
