We will be on the ground to assess and help them address some of the very real issues that will be important if we are to be able to respond positively and adequately to COVID19.”She is pleased to report strong political will to invest in the response and protect individuals.Dr. Ciro Ugarte, Director of Health Emergencies at PAHO described the countries as priority or key countries characterised by more challenged health systems. He listed, “We are starting with Haiti, Venezuela, countries under the Guiana shield, Caribbean island states in particular settings and countries in Central and South America: Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, Bolivia, Paraguay. He adds that there are regional countries with cases and case clusters so while PAHO lends support to those who are preparing for cases, it is also helping others to respond.
