TOP BALLYSHANNON GARDA TO RETURN HOME AFTER 20 YEARS

first_imgAFTER ALMOST 20 years in Dundalk, a top Garda will return home next week to take up his new role – as Superintendent in Ballyshannon.Supt Leo Mcginn made his last appearance at Dundalk District Court last week and revealed how he had grown very fond of the town during his career.He has been promoted to the rank of superintendent and takes up his new position in Ballyshannon on on Tuesday next. After tributes were paid to him at last Wednesday’s Dundalk court, Supt. Mcginn said he had served in Ballyshannon previously, but it hadn’t diminished his affection for Dundalk.He said: “I look back at my time in the court with great fondness. I enjoyed the learning here before the court and I appreciate the (law) practitioners and the judge being patient with me.”Supt. Mcginn said he had prosecuted in courts in Meath, Donegal and Sligo in the past, “but I’m 100% certain that none of them have the workload of this court.”Supt. Mcginn said: “I will miss Dundalk, I have enjoyed my time here. I am here nearly 20 years and I have put down strong roots in that time.
